▶ CHARACTER INFO.
CHARACTER NAME: Digde
CHARACTER AGE: 5000+
CANON:
Original character; Digde is a supporting character and eventually revealed to be the narrator of what starts out as a murder mystery buddy cop adventure between the archangel Gabriel and a zombie, that is soon to be revealed to be a smaller part in a much larger scheme by the celtic goddess The Morrigan to overthrow christian hegemony and return to the world to the worship of the religions that came before it.

As part of her end goal, The Morrigan summons Digde (the mother of all celtic gods) to be her "sponsor" as she pursues the cauldron of the Dagda, hoping to use its power to achieve her goal. A month before the story begins, Digde officially becomes the observer of the plot unfolding which is a required role to fill in the ritual required to obtain the cauldron. While she is physically absent, it's implied by the end of the story when the protagonists finally encounter Digde that all of the narration during the story was being provided to the audience by her, but this is something none of the characters in universe ever realise themselves.

When The Morrigan eventually fails, Digde is the one to retrieve her corpse and bring it to the "otherworld", the celtic realm of the deities and the dead, which is her only direct action taken in the story.
CANON POINT: Digde will be taken after the story's epilogue, when she's returned to the celtic otherworld with The Morrigan's corpse.
CRAU INFO: N/A

SUITABILITY: Digde is the source of all divinity in irish mythology; she possess more than enough power to contribute to combat, but more importantly she requires no real convincing to step in and save the earth if it's being accosted by kaiju. Even if she only holds dominion over a single little island, she's still a creator goddess with a direct connection to the planet. It doesn't matter if it isn't her home universe, because as far as she's concerned all Earths are her Earth and she can't let it get wrecked.

PERSONALITY TRAITS:
Positive:
Caring: Mother to all, in a roundabout way.
Steadfast: Too old to let things get her down.
Wise: Seen a lot and happy to share.
Responsible: Willing to make your well-being her problem, for better or worse.

Negative:
Inhuman: Still possesses a god's perspective.
Stern: In that "i dont care if I'm rude" grandma way.
Anti-social: Extremely unused to being around others.
Methodical: If you aren't her priority, she'll step over you to get to it

PERSONALITY REFERENCE: N/A.

POWERS & SKILLS:
Okay, so, canonically Digde's only power is her Divine Authority lets her do whatever she wants, ignoring all known laws of reality. This is obviously a bit much for a jamjar setting! So, effectively, I'm going to break this down into a few things I'd like her to be able to do and otherwise completely nerf everything else so she's like less than 1% of that.

Firstly, Digde is superhumanly strong in the sense that I'd like her to be as physically strong as she possibly can be by the game limit considering her whole legend involving terraforming a whole country with her bare hands, so her being a musclehead is thematic.

Secondly, Digde's body is compared to a mountain in her myth, indicating her body is extremely tough and durable. While I don't want her to be like impervious or anything (think superman), I would like trying to kill her by physical means to be inconvenient rather than impossible, so when I say physical I just means conventional methods of damage. If a kaiju (or another pc) has any kind of power she's completely vulnerable to that as normal, but trying to punch or kick or stab or slash or run her over with a truck wouldn't be as effective as you'd think, but still possible with effort. Obviously this is also subject to what's necessary for the game, so if there's a physical attack she's not allowed to endure this way I'd just have it hurt her and say it bypassed her defense. If this is too much though I don't mind nerfing this further!

In canon she uses her authority to ignore gravity and fly, which I'd like her to keep. To others it will probably just look like flight and she won't insist otherwise, but she could walk up a surface vertically if she wanted.

Digde was also known in her myths to have association with birds, wolves and deer, even taking the form of the first two for hunting and gathering purposes. As such, I'd like her to maintain the ability to take on the form of those animals, which would be larger than normal and subject to the character height restriction in the FAQ.

As the Goddess of Winter, Digde naturally embodies the weather most commonly associated with that season; as such, while it will be subject to the listed FAQ nerfs of only being within a very local radius, she will be able to manipulate and manifest rain, snow, wind, thunder and lightning.

Digde possesses a hammer which she used in myth to shape the land by smacking mountains with it. She can manifest this hammer as it is a part of her being rather than a separate object; it has a crude hammerhead made of carved stone, with a wooden shaft that extends to make it longer than she is tall, the end of which is a little smoother and resembles a staff. She primarily uses the staff end of her hammer to manipulate the elements.

Digde, as a creation goddess, possesses a connection to the land, so I'd like for her to be able to "sense" how the land is if she's standing on it, basically how healthy it is.

Lastly, God biology: the body Digde has in-game is an approximation of a human because when she made it in canon she didn't really feel the need to have her avatar be a human 1:1. Therefore while she looks human on the outside, she has no internal organs or blood or anything. This won't affect her killability (if you hit her enough she dies, functionally) but it just means if someone tries to stab her internal organs or something is supposed to effect them, it won't work cause there's nothing in there. She's a divine slab of meat in the shape of a cute girl.

NERFED POWERS:

So, firstly: she actually has a canon nerf that I'd like her to keep. Digde is at her strongest in the winter and weaker outside of that, so in-game between September and February, she's at her strongest, while between March to August she'll be nerfed. As such, until September (when she's in-game), I'd like for her weather manipulation abilities to be severely weakened and she will need food and sleep to survive. Once we hit September, she'll regain those abilities and she won't need food or sleep anymore. This would repeat till the game ends.

Secondly, Digde's true form is a giant woman with blue skin, white hair, bronze teeth and a single eye on her forehead. This is of course being completely nerfed, but I would like to request if the gang ever go to Ireland for a mission (like with the Vegas excursion recently) she have access to it there and only there, and if that never happens then she just won't have access to it so it won't matter! If that's not okay then I'll just be locking her out of this anyway.

he Hag of Beara, the Cailleach, the Queen of cruel winters. A figure of divinity who appears for half of the year in the form of an old crone as the days become longer and longer, yet it's only as the days grow shorter and the cold season begins to creep in that she regains her youthful appearance. It's said that if in the days leading up to winter the weather is unseasonably warm, it serves as an omen of an extended winter season, as the Cailleach has gathered more firewood than usual.

Serving as part of a duality, she is the other half of the goddess Brigid, queen of spring and summer. Just as the Hag of Beara brings cold and death, a being who brings warmth and life also exists - for 6 months of the year, the two women engage in a cycle of life and death, aging into old crones for their respective "off" season and regaining theit youthful appearance when they're "on". However, while the summertime is welcomed by the people for brighter days and warmer weather, the arrival of winter is met with anxiety and a hope for survival. As a result, she is not seen as a Goddess in the same way her other half is.

Digde is an amalgamation of the Irish and Scottish versions of the Cailleach, known as The Hag of Beara and Beira, Queen of Winter. She is a creator deity, mother goddess and the personfication of the winter season, acting as its Queen for six months of the year. Digde is associated with hills and mountains, as her legend goes she was a "one eyed giantess" with "dark blue skin, white hair and rust coloured teeth". In this version, she intentionally terraformed the earth to make it easier to walk on by swinging her hammer about to shape the land. As her staff was able to freeze the ground and she ushers in the winter months (along with the cold), this is the means by which she is capable of controlling the cold, as this version of Digde possesses 0 aptitude for spellcasting. Being a mother goddess, she's believed to be the mother of all gods and goddesses in celtic mythology - this holds true for this version of Digde, who is also the same figure as Danu.

Most importantly, Digde serves as the "other half" of the goddess Brigid. Just as Digde brings about wintertime, Brigid casts winter away and welcomes the springtime on February 1st - it's important to note that while they are a duality in this regard, they aren't "sisters" since Digde is technically her grandmother, but they do share a very close connection that could fool people into thinking they were. Their relationship as dual goddesses is more about authority and roles, but there is a sense of familial closeness nonetheless.

The festival of Imbolc (St.Brigid's day) is the day Digde goes out to gather firewood for the winter ahead. It's said if the weather is particularly good on this day, it's by the hand of the hag, as she's hoping to gather more firewood than usual in anticipation of a longer and colder winter ahead. While Brigid often went out to meet with others on Imbolc, celebrate the coming of spring and mingle amongst the people, Digde avoided the festival every year claiming she had too much to do, much to Brigid's disappointment.

During the 6 months of good weather, Digde takes the appearance of an old crone and hides away from the world; it's possible people even encountered her in some remote area and didn't think a lonely old woman could have been someone so important, but it suited her just fine. However, as the summer passes Digde ages backwards until she's returned to her prime come the wintertime, giving her the vigor needed to watch over the world during her period of rule. The same happens to Brigid, as she is reduced to a withered old lady during the winter months and returns to her youthful self just in time for the six months her authority is returned. It is through this cycle between the two goddesses that the year progresses smoothly.

In terms of personality, Digde is best described as your stern but well meaning grandmother. While Brigid is a warm, nurturing and motherly figure associated with the joy and warmth of summertime, Digde is lackadaisical and a bit of a wallflower. However, by no means is she shy or meek - Digde is actually stern, sometimes overly so, and while she generally doesn't think too much about her status in casual conversation she has no time for people she sees as rude or disrespectul and will make her annoyance well known. Despite this, she's very dutybound beneath her demeanour and never fails to bring about winter because she knows how important it is. Digde might be your weird grandmother you're afraid to cross, but deep down she's your weird grandmother and at the end of the day she's in your corner. As a mother goddess she can't help but be somewhat maternal towards the people she meets, but her way of showing is best represented by the light of the moon showing you the way home on a particularly dark night, in contrast to Brigid who's always shining bright.
